Dear Juniors,
Are you looking forward to lots of chocolates and Easter Eggs in the next few weeks? Always a time to indulge on Easter Sunday, after the period of Lent when maybe you had been trying not to eat so much chocolate. Maybe you denied yourself something else or tried to do something for someone else as a Lenten promise. But, has it had a lasting effect, did you keep your promise? It should be a time when we are thinking of the great sacrifice that Jesus made for us so surely we can do something for Him.
At the first Easter, Jesus was celebrating the Passover with His disciples. He told His disciples about what was going to happen and He changed the Passover celebration to have a new meaning for the Christian. The bread that He broke, Jesus said, was to remind us of His broken body. He was about to suffer the cruel death on a cross; He was whipped and beaten and had nails hammered into His hands and a spear thrust into His side. His body was broken for you.
When Jesus took the wine He said that it should remind us of His blood that was to be shed. He was the sacrificial lamb. The blood had to be shed for the cleansing of our sin. This can be a difficult thing for us to understand because we no longer offer a sacrifice to have our sins forgiven – Jesus was the final sacrifice and if we come to Him and ask, He will forgive us all of our sins –that is why He died; to take the punishment for all the bad things we have done so that we can be reconciled to God.
(1 John 1 v 9)
God always keeps His promises. He promises to be with us in all things, at all times and He will never let us down. You just need to ask Jesus into your heart. You can’t earn His love. He already gave it to you for free, so why not ask Him this Easter? Jesus gave His life that we might live. Jesus is the only way to have eternal life and He invites you to come.
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14 v 6
God bless you all,
Happy Easter
Shirley
