Helping Children with memory verses

In our Junior meeting of Christian Endeavour we often have a memory verse which we challenge the children to learn and remember for the following week. It is usually related to a Bible story or the teaching for the week.

The memory verse is introduced in different ways according to the different type.

1.        Genesis 1:1  and  Numbers 23 :19

  • Children were given the whole set of words and asked to re-arrange the verse to make sense
  • The verse repeated and rehearsed several times all together
  • Words/phrases removed and the verse repeated
  • More words/phrases removed and the verse recited until all have been taken away and the verse is said altogether
  • Volunteers to repeat the verse individually
  • Repeat the verse altogether
  • Display the verse as a prompt to learn

2. Matthew 6:20

  • Children were asked to select a coin from the treasure  chest.
  • Once all the coins had been selected suggestions of how to arrange them to make sense and re-arranged accordingly
